BUSY, BUSY

I took too much time off (surprise! lol) and now I'm working my butt off to catch up on paid work, housework, marina stuff and grandkids (not necessarily in that order). I didn't even notice that it was my 6-year Blogiversary the other day!

But we did goof off for a few hours day before yesterday to go on a dinghy-picnic in the harbor... the first thing I noticed were these lovely hanging baskets at the Undersea Gardens...

And then we noticed this baby...

This is the MV Thea Foss, a 100-ft. classic fantail yacht built in the 1920s for actor John Barrymore. It was designed by world-renowned naval architect Ted Geary, and is now the corporate yacht of Foss Tugs and its new parent company, Saltchuk. Foss Tugs has a pretty interesting history itself!

Knitting is happening -- I finished the blue-striped socks that were on the needles last week and have started my first pair with chitin in them, and I'm still working on the Waves in the Square shawl (up to row 90 with no major screw-ups so far, amazing!). But I am a little distracted ... on Monday I paid $30 for this...

... because Stephanie didn't feel like working on unravelling the mess anymore. Wanna see that closer?

It's about 14 ounces of wool (the light colored part) and QIVIAT (the darker color)!! I'm pretty stoked on getting it untangled -- and, call me crazy, but it's lightly spun and I'm tempted to try to separate out the qiviat -- and looking for a special project for it. Any suggestions?
